No members of Ms Lin’s family attended the hearing in person or over the video link. Mr Salter told the inquest that Ms Lin had been known as ‘Ellyse’. The inquest heard that Ms Lin was found dead by staff at the Christ Church student accommodation in St Aldates. The hearing was told that Ms Lin struggled with communication and wasn’t seen to be socialising with other students. The inquest heard that Ms Lin had grown up in Thailand and had been studying classics in Oxford after moving to the city in 2022.
