Turner, now 21, had appeared before the court in September last year where he was handed a suspended sentence for battery and intentional strangulation, committed against his former partner.
He was barred from contacting her by a restraining order.
On Wednesday, Turner admitted common assault, harassment, sending threatening messages and breaching his restraining order and suspended sentence.
This, said his defence counsel Abbey Robertson, means he is “unable to control himself when his mental health declines”.
He received 12 months for the previous crimes committed on his suspended sentence order, and then a further six months to be served consecutively for these most recent offences, a total period of 18 months.
