Pauline Hanson has declared she doesn’t care if migration cuts affect Australian businesses despite a warning from the sector that Labor’s proposed visa crackdown could pose risks to the economy.
Camera Icon Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke abruptly cancelled the speech on Tuesday.
“We are seeing net overseas migration numbers trending down,” he said, referring to recent tweaks to student visas.
One Nation’s permanent migration target is 130,000 compared with Labor’s 185,000 intake announced in the May budget.
