According to ElectionData.MY, Malay voters made up 47.8% of the electorate, followed by Chinese voters at 42.6%.
The turnout alone does not explain Loke’s defeat, especially when the margin was so small.
His defeat was shaped by the wider political mood, but it cannot be explained by that mood alone.
