Amarnath Yatra Resumes from Jammu After One-day Suspension

SRINAGAR: The annual Amarnath Yatra resumed from Jammu on Thursday after remaining suspended for a day as a precautionary security measure ahead of the seventh anniversary of the August 5, 2019 constitutional changes.
A total of 1,801 pilgrims travelled towards Baltal in a convoy of 74 vehicles.
It was escorted by personnel of the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
With the departure of the 28th batch, the cumulative number of pilgrims who have left Jammu for this year’s Amarnath Yatra has risen to 1,43,513, officials said.
The pilgrimage from Jammu was suspended on Wednesday amid heightened security arrangements ahead of the seventh anniversary of the August 5, 2019 constitutional changes.
