"Maybe that would have looked a little bit different back then with the resume, of keeping me around a little bit longer to try to try to go win that national title. Mullen coached the Gators from 2018-21, compiling double-digit win totals in his first two seasons with the program before he was eventually let go during the 2021 campaign. Florida has struggled to climb up the SEC standings since Mullen's departure, putting together a 23-27 record since 2021. While the CFP existed during his time with the Gators, only four teams earned playoff sports before the format expanded to 12 schools ahead of the 2024 season.
