The John Innes Centre and the Sainsbury Laboratory have a shared vision to build a state-of-the-art glasshouse, insectary and horticultural research facility on the Norwich Research Park. They have secured investment from the Wolfson Foundation towards the ambitious 4,500sqm "Technology Platform 1" project, which will enable scientists to study crop performance under realistic conditions. Prof Nick Talbot, executive director of the Sainsbury Laboratory, said the investment would enable "future-proof research" into sustainable agriculture and crop resilience. The Wolfson Foundation is an independent grant-making charity, focusing on supporting research and education. Chief executive Paul Ramsbottom said: “Together the John Innes Centre and the Sainsbury Laboratory are building a world-class centre of research excellence in Norwich, tackling the challenges of sustainable food production in a fast-changing climate.
