Estimates from the Colorado Fourteeners Initiative show that the state's highest peaks saw fewer hiker days in 2025 than in any other years since tracking began.
Colorado’s Fourteeners saw fewer hikers in 2025 than in any year since record-keeping began in 2015, according to new estimates from the Colorado Fourteeners Initiative (CFI).
According to the organization, that closure cut use on Colorado’s Fourteeners by roughly 18,000 hiker days.
According to CFI, the estimates suggest that hikers tackling Fourteeners contributed $69.4 million to the state’s economy.
