A music app raised its individual plan by $3 a month across three hikes in under three years, and the cheaper plan that still exists turns out to be something the company makes almost invisible to find

Under the new US pricing, Spotify individual premium plans rose from $11.99 to $12.99 a month. But compared with its original $9.99 price, Spotify’s individual plan has increased by around 30% in total. The cheaper plan that almost no one findsA music-only option, called the Basic plan, does still exist inside Spotify’s US account settings. At its launch in June 2024, an individual Basic plan cost $10.99 a month, a dollar cheaper than the then-current Premium Individual price of $11.99. Log into spotify.com/account, navigate to Manage your plan, click Change plan, and check whether the Basic plan is available at a lower rate than the current $12.99 individual price.
