Joan Jett has postponed two September performances after undergoing surgery for a fractured vertebra, while preparations continue for the 45th anniversary reissue of her landmark 1981 album I Love Rock ‘N Roll later this month. The health setback comes just weeks before Blackheart Records releases the 45th anniversary edition of Joan Jett & The Blackhearts’ breakthrough album I Love Rock ‘N Roll, one of the defining rock records of the early 1980s. “Following a recent injury, Joan Jett has undergone orthopedic surgery on a fractured vertebrae and will begin the necessary healing process,” the statement read. Despite the temporary interruption to her touring plans, Blackheart Records is continuing with the scheduled release of the 45th anniversary edition of I Love Rock ‘N Roll on 28 August. Originally released in 1981, I Love Rock ‘N Roll transformed Joan Jett & The Blackhearts from rising rock act to international stars.
