The Insurance Managers Association of Cayman (IMAC), which represents insurance managers based in the jurisdiction, has pointed to continued momentum within Cayman’s international insurance market, following the release of the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority’s (CIMA) licensing figures for the second quarter of 2026. Per CIMA’s figures, this brings the overall number of new international insurance licences issued during 2026 to date to 20. For context, CIMA data shows that 41 new international insurance licences were issued across the whole of 2025. IMAC has suggested that the sustained growth in class B(i) licences underscores Cayman’s continued appeal as a domicile of choice for single-parent captives, further cementing its reputation as one of the world’s foremost centres for international insurance. It is indeed encouraging to see the continued growth in new insurance license activity during the first half of 2026.”
