Organised criminal gangs across the UK are shifting their tactics to exploit vehicle repair and storage costs, moving away from personal injury fraud following recent legal reforms.
Specialist police units and road safety experts at dashcam firm Nextbase have issued urgent warnings to motorists as new data reveals the staggering scale of the issue.
Bryn Brooker, head of road safety at Nextbase, commented: “Crash-for-cash scams rely on uncertainty.
If there is no independent evidence, drivers will find it difficult to prove their innocence for an incident that happened in a matter of seconds.
Detective Chief Inspector Nik Jethwa, head of IFED, said: “Crash-for-cash fraud is a growing problem and criminals are becoming more aggressive in how they carry out these schemes.
