Aden – The U.S. Embassy in Yemen announced the arrival of Neil Hop to assume his duties as Chargé d’Affaires, describing him as the senior American diplomat overseeing the Yemen file. In a statement, the embassy said Hop will work closely with Yemen’s internationally recognized government to advance Washington’s priorities in Yemen and the wider region, including safeguarding freedom of navigation in the Red Sea, combating terrorism, and ensuring the security of U.S. partners. According to the embassy, Hop brings more than 24 years of diplomatic and security experience, having held senior leadership positions across the Middle East and South Asia. His appointment comes at a time of heightened regional tensions and underscores Washington’s commitment to maintaining stability and supporting Yemen’s government amid ongoing conflict.
