[Cancer Cases Rise in Yemen’s Taiz

Taiz – Health authorities in Taiz, southwest Yemen, reported a relative increase in cancer cases during the first half of 2026, with numbers approaching 1,000.
In a statement posted Tuesday on Facebook, the province’s health media officer said: “951 cancer cases were recorded in Taiz between January and June 2026.”
The figure represents an 8 percent rise compared to the same period in 2025, when 884 cases were documented.
Taiz remains the province with the highest cancer prevalence in Yemen, accounting for about 14 percent of all cases nationwide.
By the end of 2025, a total of 18,093 cancer cases had been recorded across the country.
