Aden – Yemen’s Houthi movement announced Wednesday evening that it had targeted the Saudi oil tanker Daisy in the Gulf of Aden, marking its second maritime attack claimed in a single day. He described the operation as part of enforcing a naval blockade on Saudi Arabia under the principle of “blockade for blockade.” The announcement came just hours after the Houthis claimed responsibility for another attack on a vessel in the Red Sea, signaling a new escalation against commercial shipping. Earlier, the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported receiving a notification of an incident in the Gulf of Aden, noting that a ship had reported a nearby explosion. Authorities have launched an investigation, while UKMTO urged vessels transiting the area to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity.
