NCDOT Awards Contract To Improve I-95 In Nash CountyNASHVILLE, N.C. – Drivers on Interstate 95 in Nash County will benefit from targeted repairs that will extend the life of the roadway after the N.C. Department of Transportation approved a $7.5 million construction project last week.
Fred Smith Co. of Raleigh received the contract to perform slab replacement and bridge preservation work on a 5.5-mile section of I-95 between Sunset Avenue and Red Oak Battleboro Road.
Unlike a full resurfacing project, this corridor will remain a concrete riding surface.
Crews will replace approximately 16 deteriorated concrete slabs, which will serve as the new riding surface once completed.
The project includes preserving bridges and joints on six bridges along this corridor to improve long-term durability and maintain a smoother ride.
