Juvenile Caught Lighting Grass Fire in White City; Fire Extinguished, Juvenile DetainedJCSO Case 26-4017WHITE CITY, Ore. —Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) deputies responded to a reported grass fire last night in the 8000 block of Highway 62 in White City. Jackson County Jackson County Fire District 3 and ODF Southwest Oregon District (ODF) firefighters quickly extinguished the fire before it got out of control and deputies detained a juvenile suspect on scene. During the initial contact, the juvenile admitted to starting the fire, and deputies recovered matches from his possession. The investigation remains ongoing, and the case is being referred to the Jackson County Juvenile Department for appropriate criminal charges, including arson.
