‘Dine N Dash’: the song that proves there’s still life in The Strokes yetBands that remain the same forever get criticised for never pushing their talents to their limits, and bands that evolve in dramatic ways alienate their fanbases, who feel as though they’ve been betrayed.
You can’t win the eternal battle of being in a rock band, and you certainly can’t if you’re The Strokes.
But beneath all of those factors, is it really that far removed from anything the band has done before?
Times have changed, the band have changed, and for some reason, an audience can’t do the same.
What’s more, Casablancas’ vocals remain untreated throughout the song, meaning that those who can’t stand his robotic tone are left with little to complain about with his more organic voice.
