The cabinet approved the import of 0.5 million metric tons of wheat through the Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) to meet the province’s food security requirements for 2026–27. The cabinet was informed that Sindh is expected to face a wheat shortfall of around 1.69 million metric tons, with total wheat availability estimated at 4.84 million metric tons against annual consumption demand of 6.53 million metric tons. On July 30, the federal Economic Coordination Committee had approved the import of one million tons of wheat.
