SINDH government’s decision to introduce the Facial Recognition Attendance Monitoring and Evaluation System (FRAMES) in public schools is a commendable initiative. The use of technology to monitor teachers’ attendance in real time reflects a welcome shift towards greater transparency, accountability and efficiency in the education sector. At the same time, improving education requires more than ensuring teachers’ attendance. Strengthening teachers’ capabilities is essential for building an education system that focuses not only on administrative discipline but also on academic excellence. Such incidents cast a negative shadow over the credibility of the education system and undermine the value of academic qualifications.
