The two nations made the pledge during the fourth US-Pakistan Counterterrorism Dialogue held on Tuesday in Washington, the Foreign Office said in a statement on Wednesday.
US Coordinator for Counterterrorism Ambassador Gregory LoGerfo and Ministry of Foreign Affairs Special Secretary Ambassador Nabeel Munir led the dialogue, it added.
During the dialogue, Islamabad and Washington pledged united action against terrorist groups, including banned Daesh (ISIS-K), al-Qaida (AQ), the TTP, and the Balochistan Liberation Army and its affiliates.
The two sides underscored shared interests in the counterterrorism partnership and the two countries’ determination to confront terrorism.
Pakistan has witnessed a sharp rise in terrorist activities, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, since the Afghan Taliban returned to power in Afghanistan in 2021.
