Cancer neuroscience is testing repurposing of neuroactive drugs to treat tumorsFrontier research uniting cancer biology and neuroscience is leading to new understanding of how tumors interact with the peripheral and central nervous systems to fuel their growth. Neural inputs have been shown to drive growth in both central nervous system tumors and extracranial tumors. This basic research is now prompting efforts to repurpose neuroactive active agents with the aim of potentiating cancer therapies and restoring anti-tumor immunity.
