['Louise Nilsson']
Mix 1049
A fifth occupant has been discovered deceased as investigations are ongoing into a head-on collision between two vehicles, on the Stuart Highway.
Police, Fire and Rescue Service crews and St John Ambulance attended the scene, where both vehicles were fully engulfed in flames.
A section of the Stuart Highway remains closed while detectives from the Major Crash Investigation Unit investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Detective Senior Sergeant Michael Schumacher says investigators continue to examine the scene and work to formally identify the deceased.
“Due to the severity of the crash, which appears to have been a high-speed head-on collision, both vehicles caught fire, making this an extremely complex investigation.
