NEWPORT, R.I. — After 13 years leading the Edward King House Senior Center through a period of major growth, Executive Director Carmela Geer will step down Sept. 11 to become Health Services Coordinator for the Town of Middletown. Today, Edward King House offers more than 90 programs and services each year, focusing on healthy aging, lifelong learning, volunteer opportunities and community engagement. “Serving as Executive Director of the Edward King House has been the greatest privilege of my professional career,” Geer said. The Edward King House Board of Directors has launched a search for Geer’s successor and said programs and services will continue without interruption during the transition. “Carmela’s leadership has transformed the Edward King House in ways that will benefit our community for generations,” Matos-Mournighan said.
