Yukon, ok - Betty D. (Slater) Gibson was born on August 17, 1936 in Dierks, Arkansas, the only child of Dorothy Dean (Branstine) Slater and William C. Slater, Jr. She died on August 1, 2026 in Yukon, OK at the age of 89. Betty met her husband-to-be (William W. Hoot Gibson) at Southeastern, where he was a three-sport letterman. During those years, Betty taught physical education and health, tennis, science, English, reading, and speech; also serving as a librarian. Betty taught at Midwest City High School for six years (chairing the English Department for four), then transferred to Norman High School to teach English.
