BERN - Swiss ski star Lara Gut-Behrami announced her retirement on Wednesday, ending a glittering career that brought Olympic gold, two overall World Cup triumphs and two world titles. "I have had the good fortune and the honour to enjoy a long and intense career, to express my dreams and aspirations through skiing, and to share that journey with extraordinary people," the 2016 and 2024 overall World Cup Crystal Globe winner said. She won her first World Cup race in 2008 with a super-G at St Moritz and claimed a total of 101 World Cup podiums, including 48 victories. Gut-Behrami won three Olympic medals -- gold in the super-G and bronze in the giant slalom at the 2022 Beijing Olympics and bronze in the downhill in 2014 Sochi. In her specialty, the super-G, Gut-Behrami has amassed six World Cup globes, most recently in 2025 and one in giant slalom in 2024.
