(Bernama pic)PETALING JAYA : Malaysian Resources Corporation Bhd (MRCB) and Theta Edge Bhd have been awarded a RM3.028 billion system turnkey contract (STC) for the Penang Mutiara Line, the state’s first LRT project. The rail operator also said it was evaluating tenders for the Civil Main Contract 2 (CMC2) package, covering the extension of alignment from Komtar to Penang Sentral. “MRT Corp is pleased to announce that Bumiputera participation has now exceeded 20% of the total contract value,” it said, referring to the civil works package worth more than RM8 billion. It was previously reported that the Mutiara Line LRT project was on track for its targeted commencement of operations in 2031.
