Braun extends Indiana gas tax holidayINDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Gov. Mike Braun declared a statewide energy emergency Wednesday, extending Indiana’s gas tax suspension through Sept. 5. The emergency takes effect Friday and Braun said disruptions to global oil shipping lanes caused by the Russia-Ukraine war and Canadian wildfires prompted the decision as gas prices rise. “This action will make life more affordable for Hoosier families and provide immediate substantial relief from continuing high gas prices,” Braun said. “I can’t imagine that going month after month after month, (it would) be sustainable.
