The WACO Community School District was ranked as the 38th best employer in Iowa with fewer than 150 employees by the Des Moines Register in the annual “Top Work Places” rating. The district was one of only five school districts to be recognized on the list. Employers are ranked based on employee surveys from Energage, a Pennsylvania-based software company which runs similar workplace ranking programs throughout the country. In total, 149 companies were named to the list. Windsor Heights-based REMAX Concepts, Ankeny-based Century 21 Signature Real Estate and Dubuque-based Kunkel & Associates Inc. were the top three companies across the state, while the highest-ranked local employers were Marengo’s Compass Memorial Healthcare at second place for mid-sized employers, and Fairfield’s Libertyville Savings Bank at number three for small employers.
