Joshua Bonehill-Paine, a former antisemite selected by the Conservatives to contest a council election next year, has withdrawn his candidacy. In a post on X, Mr Bonehill-Paine said he needed to “show the Jewish community how much I regret my previous actions”. Mr Bonehill-Paine was jailed in 2016 after he was convicted of racially aggravated harassment of Lady Berger, who is Jewish.
