A grass fire was doused by local residents Wednesday afternoon before the arrival of firefighters. Crews were called to the blaze on Gallagher Road at about 4:30 p.m., but by the time they arrived, the flames had been extinguished. The fire scorched a patch of grass next to a walking trail. Firefighters stayed at the scene and helped mop up after the fire.
