Kelowna NewsRibbon cutting celebrates completion of key section of the Okanagan Rail Trail in KelownaRail trail nearly completeCindy WhiteIt’s been a long time coming, but the ribbon has officially been cut on a section of the Okanagan Rail Trail near Kelowna International Airport. Getting it done needed the collaboration of municipal, federal and indigenous governments, but it was the dedication of volunteers with Friends of the Okanagan Rail Trail that set everything in motion. It passes through a portion of Okanagan Indian Band land near Lake Country. “Addition to Reserve usually takes a long, long time, but this federal government is very, very, very focused on making sure that First Nations get the land back that was theirs.”
