A planning application has been submitted to Scottish Borders Council for the crossing with associated access ramps on both approaches to the former railway line north west of Manor Brig. The work forms part of Destination Tweed’s development of a 113-mile River Tweed Trail, a long-distance walking and cycling route running from Moffat to Berwick-upon-Tweed that is scheduled to officially launch in 2028A statement with the application says: “The proposal is to construct a new footbridge in line of the disused railway. “The bridge will utilise the existing abutments of the dismantled railway bridge. “Bridge dimensions are 11.55 x 2.5m. A 18m x 2.5m polydeck structure access ramp is also proposed on both approaches to the bridge structure.”
