Cristina ArayataMANILA – A magnitude 5.6 earthquake hit Davao Occidental on Thursday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said. It is an aftershock of the June 2026 magnitude 7.8 offshore Sarangani and magnitude 6.5 offshore Davao Occidental quakes, based on the Phivolcs’ bulletin. The magnitude 5.6 quake struck 16 km. Meanwhile, Phivolcs also recorded a magnitude 5.3 quake 408 km. No damage and aftershocks are expected from the magnitude 5.3 quake, Phivolcs said.
