Earlier this month, artist Paityn Savoie (Waposhpyii) put the finishing touches on the mural that adorns the parking lot side wall of Arena 2 at Co-Op Place in Wetaskiwin. Article content“The completion of the mural at Co-op Place marks an exciting milestone for the City of Wetaskiwin’s Public Art Program, an initiative that has been years in the making,” said Macki Ruman, Wetaskiwin’s Community Experience supervisor and Public Art Project manager. The concept of a Public Art Mural Program was first brought forward by Economic Development to City Council in 2023. During 2024 budget deliberations, Council approved funding from the Public Art Reserve to support the program and begin bringing more public art to the community. In May 2025, Co-op Place was selected as the inaugural location for the project.
