Canelo Alvarez has explained why three of his previous performances prove that he could hand Terence Crawford a first career defeat, if their rematch were to take place. Ever since, Canelo has pleaded for the opportunity to avenge the defeat, with the recently-retired Crawford understood to have a lucrative offer on the table for a rematch. Speaking to CBS, Canelo explained that his performances in his three previous rematches – against Miguel Vazquez and twice against Gennady Golovkin – prove how much he can improve when able make post-fight adjustments. “So, yeah, if the opportunity is there, it would be amazing [to rematch Crawford].” Whilst frustrated at the lack of a rematch, Canelo has taken full responsibility, believing that he should have placed a rematch clause into the original fight contract for his initial showdown with Crawford.
