India cannot erase Kashmir’s identity, says Mushaal

Pakistan Observer
Chairperson of the Peace and Culture Organization and wife of jailed Kashmiri Hurriyat leader Yasin Malik, Mushaal Hussein Mullick, on Wednesday said India has failed to erase the identity of the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir despite changing the territory’s constitutional, geographical and demographic status following its August 5, 2019 actions.
She said the Kashmiri people’s struggle for the United Nations-promised right to self-determination would continue until its logical conclusion and urged the international community to ensure implementation of UN resolutions on Kashmir.
Mullick said August 5 remains one of the darkest days in the history of Jammu and Kashmir, as India attempted to alter the disputed territory’s geographical and demographic character.
However, she said no force could erase the identity, history or legitimate aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
She said the Hurriyat leadership is enduring severe oppression and inhumane treatment in Indian prisons, but the sacrifices of Kashmiri leaders and people had only strengthened the resolve of the freedom movement.
