While flashing school zone lights are not on yet and speed signs are still dark, Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office deputies said now is the time for drivers to get back into the habit of slowing down. Osborne said deputies want kids and parents to stay aware of how they drive, watch for school buses, watch for kids in crosswalks and watch their speed around school zones. BCSO student support deputies will be stationed at schools across the county, with patrols beginning Friday morning at 7.
