The proposals are part of a scheme for public realm improvements at Waterbeach, with developer Urban&Civic submitting the application on July 29. The site, Waterbeach Barracks and Airfield, is located to the north of Cambridge, between Waterbeach Village and Cambridge Research ParkHarriet Nicholls, senior development manager for Urban&Civic, said: "This application represents an important step in delivering the long-established vision for the Waterbeach lakeside. "It will be an attractive and accessible public space for residents and visitors alike." Ms Nicholls said: "Together with Greystar's proposals for new lakeside homes and commercial space, the boardwalk will help establish a vibrant lakeside neighbourhood, bringing together new homes and businesses and high-quality public spaces. "This mix of uses has always been central to the vision for the lakeside and will create an important focal point for both new and existing Waterbeach residents."
