The move follows Managem’s 2025 launch of Tizert, currently Morocco’s largest copper mine, whose output is expected to reach between 95,000 and 110,000 tons of copper concentrate in 2026. Measured and indicated resources at Bouskour are estimated at 43.3 million tons grading 0.88 percent copper and 9 grams per ton silver, with a further 8.7 million tons of inferred resources. Historical mining at Bouskour dates to the medieval period and saw renewed but intermittent activity from the late 1940s through 1977, when falling copper prices forced the site’s closure. Managem restarted exploration there in 2007 and now plans to finalize geological certification of the resource this year before moving to feasibility studies and construction. The project comes as copper prices have climbed to between 12,000 and 14,000 dollars a tonne in 2026, up from just above 10,000 dollars a year earlier, driven partly by demand tied to artificial intelligence infrastructure and data centers.
