Industry-Led Subjects Put Energy And Infrastructure On The School TimetableThe Minister of Education’s confirmation of nine industry-led secondary school subjects gives industry a direct role in shaping students' pathways into the sectors that build, power and service New Zealand, says Energy and Infrastructure Industry Skills Board (EIISB) Chief Executive Philip Aldridge.
The EIISB will lead the Energy and Infrastructure subject and work with other Industry Skills Boards (ISBs) on the Engineering Technology subject.
“New Zealand’s energy and infrastructure sectors will need more skilled people to deliver the services our country depends on every day.
Aldridge says the Energy and Infrastructure subject will draw on the knowledge and experience of the energy, water, civil infrastructure and extractives sectors.
About the Energy and Infrastructure Industry Skills Board:The Energy and Infrastructure Industry Skills Board (EIISB) was established in January 2026 as part of the Government’s vocational education reform.
