White lives near Churchill Elementary, and with the school board’s decision to combine Churchill and Hoover Elementary into one K-5 school, she is concerned it could make getting to school harder for parents near Churchill. “Here we had kids walking to school, biking to school, and you know, it’s been more than a school,” White said. Churchill will not go unused as the district is shifting the Rochester Academy for Independent Living into the building. While White had concerned, a student at the Churchill playground seemed excited about the change.
