The Cubs acquired Clay Holmes from the Mets ahead of the deadline even though he is currently on the 60-day injured list. Per Cubs manager Craig Counsell, Holmes will get the ball Saturday, per Taylor McGregor of the Marquee Sports Network. Prior to his injury, Holmes’ season was off to a great start. He lasted 5 1/3 innings in his most recent rehab start, throwing 73 pitches. His line against lefties is .289/.299/.566, so it’s a logical plan for the Cubs to get him in there and shield Happ from a few southpaws.
