Audiences turned out for Toy Story 5, but The Mandalorian and Grogu and Moana disappointed at the box office, outgrossed by the likes of The Odyssey, Obsession, and Backrooms. During an Investor's Earnings Call, via The Hollywood Reporter, Disney CEO Josh D'Amaro touched on the disappointing box office returns of The Mandalorian and Grogu and Moana. The Mandalorian and Grogu ultimately grossed $345.1 million at the worldwide box office, officially the lowest grossing film in the Star Wars franchise. Moana has been an outright box office flop, grossing $117.1 million domestically and $263.8 million globally against a $250-million budget. Yet Disney has a strong history of former box office flops being repurposed into profitable arms of the company's history.
