Cameron Norrie progressed to the Canadian Open last 32 with a straight-set win over Ignacio Buse. Ranked four places below the Peruvian number 33, Norrie beat Buse 6-3 6-3 in a match which lasted one hour and 29 minutes. At the first opportunity, Norrie broke Buse and served out to claim the first set. The Peruvian's first break drew the second set level to 2-2, but Norrie immediately broke back and saved three break points in the following service game. Buse, who needed a medical timeout, couldn't recover the set and Norrie won with his second match point.
