Nellore: BJP senior leader and Namami Gange State Convener Midathala Ramesh on Wednesday demanded that the state government immediately release 15 TMC of Krishna floodwaters to the Somasila Reservoir. Speaking at Mulapeta, Ramesh highlighted that heavy upper Krishna basin inflows have pushed Srisailam Reservoir storage past 100 TMC with levels crossing 854 feet. Recalling the 1983 inter-state agreement signed under former PM Indira Gandhi to supply drinking water to Chennai, Ramesh urged the immediate diversion of water through the Pothireddypadu Head Regulator to fill Somasila and fulfill drinking water obligations. BJP leaders Kandikatla Rajeshwari and Nagendra Singh attended.
