Nellore: District Collector Himanshu Shukla flagged off Waste Collection Vehicles (WCVs) for 30 waste pickers at the Collectorate on Wednesday under an initiative by Navajeevan Organization. Navajeevan President Kalvapalli Sahadevayya noted that the group has supported 2,059 waste pickers across Nellore district over 30 years in healthcare, education, and economic empowerment. Supported by the National Safai Karamcharis Finance and Development Corporation (NSKFDC), the project accelerates the transition from manual to mechanised sanitation across five southern states, enhancing worker safety and income opportunities. Navajeevan Vice-President Victoria and Programme Coordinator Vijay Bhaskar attended the event.
