Khammam: BRS on Wednesday extended its full support to the Supreme Court (number of judges) Amendment Bill, 2026, while urging the Centre to establish a permanent bench of the Supreme Court in Hyderabad to improve access to justice for people across southern India.
While welcoming the legislation, Ravichandra said the proposed amendment should be accompanied by a major structural reform — the establishment of a permanent Supreme Court bench in Hyderabad for southern India.
Ravichandra described Hyderabad as the most suitable location for a southern bench, citing its central geographical position and excellent connectivity to Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Puducherry and Lakshadweep.
The BRS MP maintained that the demand for a permanent Supreme Court bench was not confined to Telangana but reflected a long-standing aspiration of people across southern India.
Establishing such a bench, he said, would make justice more affordable, accessible and expeditious.
