Amaravati: TDP Rajya Sabha MP Chintakayala Vijay on Wednesday questioned the prolonged delay in the trial of the disproportionate assets cases against former Chief Minister and YSRCP president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, asking why the CBI and Enforcement Directorate cases registered in 2013 have not progressed even after 13 years.
Participating in the discussion on the Supreme Court Judges (Amendment) Bill, 2026, Vijay extended the Telugu Desam Party’s full support to the legislation, describing the proposal to increase the sanctioned strength of Supreme Court judges from 33 to 37 as a timely and welcome reform.
Invoking the principle that ‘justice delayed is justice denied’, Vijay said every citizen, irrespective of status or political position, is equal before the law.
He questioned why the trial in the CBI and ED cases against Jagan Mohan Reddy had remained pending for over a decade, alleging that repeated discharge petitions and transfers of judges had contributed to the delay.
He asserted that prolonged litigation erodes public confidence in the judicial system and called for a time-bound trial in all such cases.
