4% of respondents in Germany to a survey by Statista Consumer Insights reported using satellite internet in their homes. This share was similarly low in Japan and even lower in China (where Starlink doesn’t operate),The technology plays a larger role in Canada and the US. This may be due to the fact that there are significantly more remote regions with poor broadband coverage across the vast North American continent. In addition to Starlink, OneWeb also operates a network of small satellites in low Earth orbit, promising faster load times than other satellite networks. Additional satellite constellations are in the process of deployment, including Project Kuiper by Amazon and two Chinese initiatives.
